Done, but still not quite dusted
Posted 19 March 09 by Scott AndrewsAs I said the other day, I finished Operation Motherland.
There were faults that bugged me in the final third, but I needed to get it in by end of March and so I locked it and moved into the proof reading stage.
The things I wanted to fix nagged at me, but I reassured myself that I had met my (second) deadline and at least that was professional.
But oh, then that sod Waid had to go write this blog post. Go read it if you want to write anything for money, ever.
Back? Right. He’s not entirely wrong. Dammit.
So the final third is hereby unlocked. I only have a week and a bit to do quite a big re-write, but I’m going to do it anyway. Because “in the long run, the quality of your work is all that matters. That is your only resumé.”
I shall rewrite, but I will still make the deadline if it kills me because I value my relationship with my editor, who is a total star. But he deserves better than the two chapters of bodge the third section currently contains.
And so does my resumé.
