Ron Moore's CSI
Posted 30 March 09 by Scott AndrewsGrissom: The ballistics don’t match. The bullet couldn’t have been fired from the car, the shooter must have been on foot, on the sidewalk. It’s the only possible explanation that encompases all the known facts.
Willows: Ah, but the trajectory of the bullet, which may at first glance appear to have been a clue, can be discounted as evidence if we consider one salient fact.
Grissom: Which is?
Willows: God can change bullet trajectories at will. It could have been a miracle.
Grissom: Damn, you’re right. I suppose that makes our job – carefully sifting evidence in search of logical resolutions that tie together numerous clues in a satisfying and coherent whole – entirely redundant.
Willows: Indeed. Anything at all that happened in the course of our investigation which may have seemed to be a clue could in fact be impossible to reconcile with the true facts of the case because God is involved.
Grissom: Fuck this then, I quit.
Audience: So say we all!
