Afterblighters

Posted 2 June 09 by Scott Andrews

I often get asked about the timeline of the Afterblight books. Paul Kane (have you read Arrowhead yet? Why not, it’s brilliant!) and I have been comparing notes so as to plot a coherent timeline for post-Cull England.

To that end we’re ensuring that our books refer to each other whenever possible – I feature De Falaise, the villain of Arrowhead in OM, and refer to the Tsar, who appears in Broken Arrow; he refers to OM in Arrowhead, and in Broken Arrow has put in a reference to events in my third book.

But, due to the vagaries of publishing, our books are kind of leapfrogging each other. Arrowhead came out before OM, but it’s set after. Arrowhead refers back to OM, and OM looks forward to Arrowhead and also teases the forthcoming Broken Arrow, which comes out soon but is set after the book I’ve yet to write.

Confused? Here’s a UK Afterblight chronology:

1) School’s Out
2) Operation Motherland
3) Arrowhead
4/5) My third book, out next summer / The Culled (the two books take place simultaneously)
6) Broken Arrow

So now you know.

Oh, and Paul’s just posted the cover of Broken Arrow on his site, and it looks great.
