Careful what you wish for

Until last week I had been living a charmed life as a writer. Pretty much everything I handed in had been accepted on first draft, and I’d not had a really stinking review.
Well…
On Tuesday I handed in a completed piece of work, which the editor and producer seem to have liked. But then on Thursday, due to factors outside everyone’s control, it turned out that the piece may have to be rewritten from page one.
Ouch.
Then on Saturday morning while browsing the blog of m’colleague Jonathan Green, I noticed that Operation Motherland got a whopping one and a half stars from Death Ray Magazine. That’s three out of ten.
Yikes.
Jon had not included the text of the review in his blog, and I have not seen a copy of the mag yet, so I dunno what it actually says. But after careful consideration I’ve decided not to find out; it couldn’t possibly improve my day.
Anyway. I’m now braced for rewrite hell, and wincing after my first truly bad review.
You know what this means, right?
It means I is a proper writer at last :-)
