A new short story, and a new review
Posted 18 September 09 by Scott Andrews
This weekend’s Fantasycon sees the launch of Paul Kane’s sequel to Arrowhead, Broken Arrow.
Afterblight fans will already know the villain of Arrowhead put in a guest appearance in Operation Motherland, and the villain of Broken Arrow was mentioned as well, by way of a teaser.
I honestly thought Arrowhead was fab, and Broken Arrow is too. But if my word’s not enough to convince you to lay your money down, how about an exclusive short story by yours truly?
Yup, at the end of the book there’s a little bonus called The Man Who Would Not Be King. It’s a prequel to Operation Motherland featuring two of the characters from that book, casting one of them in a very different light indeed. It’s designed to be a light dessert after a hearty main course.
So get those pre-orders in or, if you’re going to Fantasycon, pick up a copy from Paul, who’ll be there hawking his wares. He’s a scholar and a gent and his book’s really very good indeed; I’m merely riding his coat tails with this one.
In other business, I still haven’t read the Death Ray review, but this review from 2000AD Review made me smile.
The thing about online reviews is that they normally just express opinions without context or explanation, whereas Mr Ellis takes the time to outline his reasoning, which is appreciated, and is the mark of a proper reviewer. Plus, whisper is quietly, I think his criticisms are all quite valid.
And just in case you didn’t think Abaddon could get any weirder, m’colleague Jaspre Bark has posted a truly demented film trailer for his new book Way of the Barefoot Zombie. Warning: features embarrassing kipper ties, nudity and braaaiinnnnsss.
