2010
Posted 7 January 10 by Scott AndrewsHappy new year, all. Things will be relatively quiet hereabouts for the next three months or so, as I have to put my effort into writing Children’s Crusade, which is due at the end of March (today’s work so far contains the words diplomacy, rifle and flirting).
I don’t do resolutions, really, but my main aim for this year is to spend four to six month later in the year writing either my first screenplay, which is already well underway but shelved for now, or finishing my first Young Adult novel, also underway and on hold while I return to Afterblight for a while.
The difference with those two projects is that either would be the first on spec, uncommissioned writing I’ve done in, ooh, ten years. This represents both a concerted attempt to start owning my own stuff, and also a risky decision to spend time writing work for which I will potentially not get paid when I could and, my bank manager would argue, probably should, be spending that time writing someting with a guaranteed pay cheque at the end of it.
However, 2010 will bring at least four of my things to market: Children’s Crusade is due in bookshops in the summer, and my three as yet unannounced audio plays for Big Finish should be hitting shops and the ‘net sometime in spring, with any luck. I’ll post news of all these things – the cover to Children’s Crusade is awesome – when I’m allowed.
Til then, play nicely, don’t break anything, and if a stranger offers you a bag of sweets, grab them and leg it.
